I currently have ScreenConnect running on my Windows server at my home office. Since I have a static IP address, this is not an issue. However, I am thinking of moving the product to a Windows server hosted by GoDaddy and have some questions.
* Assuming the Windows server at GoDaddy has the appropriate .NET services, can I just "copy" my folder and file structure to a folder in the website area they provide to me and expect it to run? Or does the product require "installation" on the host machine to run correctly?
* I know I can change the port requirements that ScreenConnect uses, but will the default ports work with GoDaddy-hosted Windows servers? Follow up question to that is, I wonder if GoDaddy would allow the non-standard ports into their hosting environment at all?
* I believe if I get a Virtual dedicated Windows server from GoDaddy it would work, as I then would have the ability to control the entire virtual server (I believe they use VMWare) for my purposes, but I would like to get the "cheapie" shared hosting service in order to justify moving my entire server environment.
Okay, so now you see what I'm thinking of doing. I know I've left myself open to some fun comments, so have at it! I don't mind. The real reason I want to eliminate my home office Windows server is that it makes a racket you wouldn't believe with its four fans, etc.
Thanks for any and all advice, and especially the jokes!
