We connect to a large number of clients, many of which have strict firewall policies. Sometimes these clients are blocking port 8041 (used by the relay services by default). In an effort to give ScreenConnect the best chances to make a connection with our server, would it be possible to assign backup ports for the relay service to try after X number failed attempts at the first port?

Not sure if we can setup backup or alternative relay ports, that is something I will need to push to development. I can appreciate that port 8041 wouldn't work with some customers, have you tried changing your default relay port from 8041 to 443? You can change the ports here is the knowledge article: http://help.screenconnect.com/HOWTO-0003.ashx

We tried port 443 but we think the client was closing the connection because our traffic wasn't true SSL traffic on that port. They must of been using some sort of deep packet inspection system (BIG world-wide corporations with lots of security).

Seen this a few times, if your customer will work with you they could allow ScreenConnect through. But regardless its something our think tank was looking at Monday so once we have some ideas on the subject we will get it out to the forum ASAP.
