Some might notice, based on Jake's list of changes made to the new pre-release build that was posted yesterday, that the first entry in today's support log should no longer be an issue for folks. The original login process to redirect back to originating page when a user clicked "login" confused many users as they tried to test the roles that they were setting up for their users.

I've tried creating a user with the built-in 'Host' permissions and are finding that user cannot login unless I also grant 'Administrator' permission - is this a limitation of the trial version/status or does the built-in Host account need some other tweaking?

Support Response:
If you look at the browser’s address bar, what is the “ReturnURL” equal to? If you go to http://YourScreenConnectSite/Host and try logging in as that user, does that work?

I would like to have a input field on my website in which a user enters their session code and it submits to my SC server. Is this possible by any chance?

Support Response:
Take a look at the this thread from our User Forum and let me know if that helps:

Customer Question:

1) the ability to select/recurse DIRECTORIES to transmit.

2) the ability to chose a location to transfer files to.

3) I know you are working on rename/delete -- looking forward to it.

4) multiple remote screens on reverse screen share. (gotomeeting function)

Just askin.... :-)

Support Response:
First thanks for submitting your requests, I will certainly review each and make sure they are submitted.

1. You want to send entire folders to the target machine as opposed to an individual file? This can be done via our drag & drop or Right Click, Copy, and Paste file transfer options.
2. Although our current file transfer function as a menu option does not support selecting the location you can use the drag & drop or Right Click, Copy, and Paste file transfer options do support selecting the location.
3. Yes this should be released in 2.4
4. Meeting software is planned for 2.6 (summer 2012)

What is your recommendations for "hosting" the screen connect. and installing the guest client on the same system? I didn't see anything that was saying don't have the host and guest running on the same system.

Is that something that should be refrained from doing? Service and Client on same system?

Support Response:
Having a ScreenConnect Unattended client your ScreenConnect server is fine; most of our users end up doing that (ourselves included).

The only issue I am having right now is that I have to disable "Live Protection" in "SPYBOT" to send the email to a guest.....if I do not, both ScreenConnect and Firefox stop working as soon as I try to send an email......however, when I disable "Live Protection", I am able to use it.

Support Response:
Does the SPYBOT software actually block you from sending the emails via the SMTP or via native client options? I know we had sent over a few knowledge articles on these optional email send methods on Friday. Were you able to try them? And if so was it the same results? We will hopefully be setting up some tests with SPYBOT here this week, but wanted to try and provide alternative options for you to try in the meantime.

I was curious to know if there was a way to disable the customer's controls. I saw that we were able to disable our control, but it would be beneficial in some cases, to disable control, like when the screen is blacked out.

Support Response:
That feature set is being tested in our 2.4 pre-release, it is available there if you would like to try it out. We will probably release it in 2.4 but some modifications will be made in subsequent builds as many of our customers may not want this option for compliance reasons. We are waiting on feedback via our forum for this now, we have heard very little but I expect we will get a lot once it gets closer to release in a few weeks.

You and I spoke last October. I’ve since rebuilt my laptop with Windows 7 and am currently having no problems with ScreenConnect. Do you know how to configure ClickOnce so that I automatically join the session within Chrome? Right now, I’m having to download the file, click on Keep, and then run the executable.

Support Response:
Glad to hear that ScreenConnect is working well for you now!

There is a “ClickOnce for Chrome” add-on available and it works quite nicely. You can get add to Chrome from here:
Chrome Web Store - ClickOnce for Google Chrome™

We are currently having problems connecting via a 'Attended Session' or via a 'Unattended Session' using Screen Connect when trying to connect to a Windows 2008 R2 Domain Controller or Member Server in a Windows 2008 Domain.

The Screen Connect icon appears in the notification area, however it loops around saying 'Connecting...' and 'Waiting for Connection...' and never ever establishes a connection.

The Servers are all fully Windows Updated and are on the latest Service Pack, Screen Connect version is 2.3.2058.4321.

Support Response:
Try right-clicking on the ScreenConnect icon in the systray of one of your unattended computers, selecting status, and seeing what the status is and what address/URL the Relay is trying to hit—is that URL correct (i.e., accessible from that computer)?

Customer Question:
Quote:
Since my server locked up and now back online, what is the retry time frame for the clients to reconnect?

Most have come back but still missing a few .....

Support Response:
They should come back within 5 minutes or so. If not, try stopping all of your ScreenConnect services and then start the ScreenConnect Session Manager service first, followed by the other two.

Let me know if that doesn’t resolve it for you.

Customer Question:
Quote:
Where should I put in for request for features? I think a good one would be in the Administration page. An option to restart the services like you have just explained. In the mean time I will just write up a batch file to do that (stop all then start session manager, then relay, then web)...

Support Response:
The best place to post feature requests is right here in our User Forum.

I've installed ScreenConnect on a VM and have set it up. Now I am waiting for a
victim ;)

Any plans for supporting mobile devices as guests in the near future ( a
la bomgar ?)

Support Response:
We have looked closely at Android and iOS as targets for this but as you might be aware the ability to control these devices or view their screens is prohibited by the operating system unless the device is jailbroken or rooted. Bomgar and a few other companies do have some basic file transfer capability and a few other nice features but although they show a video of a controlled device they are not very clear about the above mentioned operating system restriction until you get further into the evaluation. We are looking at Windows Mobile now and still considering a basic guest client for Android and iOS, but we are waiting on feedback from our customer base if the ability to transfer files, pull system info from the phone, and send configuration files is sufficient?

We would love to hear your feedback on the subject and what you think would be necessary for a mobile guest client to be useful.

Customer Question:

How I can disable the notification balloon. Starting ver 2.4 the unattended users see the notification.

Support Response:
That will be fixed in the next v2.4 pre-release build that is posted.
