2.4 - client unattended update

Hello,
It would be very nice to be able to update the (unattended) client in unattended mode. No UAC window, no installing window should appear to the end user.

i agree the install window should be completely invisible to the EU .

i have had them cancel in the middle and hose the entire install on there machine ....

It shouldn't if upgrading from an another 2.4+ installer

so only if you update a client <2.4 version the update process appears to the end user? If you update a 2.4+ version to another 2.4+ version nothing appears?

Our goal with 2.4 was to make the upgrade and remove process as seamless as possible. 2.4 is in a pretty stable state with only a few reported issues remaining to be fixed, if the upgrade process is still not meeting your needs (using latest 2.4) please let us know and we can have a support rep look at this with you. These knowledge articles will be updated as 2.4 officially releases to reflect how this will work so your team will have the ability to push out upgrades.

Going to make this as simple and short as possible.

Had a SBS2008 Server with 2.3 installed and 5 Unattended Clients.

Over the last few days we have migrated to SBS2011, so we thought we would install Screenconnect 2.4 to give it a try.


How do we upgrade all the unattended clients to 2.4? do we need to uninstall and reinstall? or install over the top?

I have tried click the reinstall option at the top of the Host-->unattended screen but nothing seems to happen.

You need to uninstall then reinstall.

It really should be able to reinstall over what's there. If you are on the remote machine, do you see anything happen? Can you go to the Documents/ScreenConnect directory and try to run the Elsinore.ScreenConnect.GuestClient.exe file? It should have been put there for the reinstall.

Also please note we have had a few customers call in saying the reinstall or upgrade buttons were grayed out. These features are controlled via role based security, so you can simply add them to your role (as admins of ScreenConnect) and that will enable the capability.

Just downloaded the latest version of the 2.4 release.

And before i install it i just want to confirm that my unattended clients will still be able to connect so i can upgrade them. Or do i need to upgrade the unattended first then upgrade the server?

You can upgrade the server. All old unattendeds will (or rather should because this is a pre-release) be able to connect back.
