If I send an invite to anyone who has an Exchange server, it gets rejected straight away. Is there any way (besides manually whitelisting) to get around this?

Support Response:

It’s likely that the problem you're having is related to using the "Send from server directly to the email domain SMTP server" setting in the ScreenConnect Administration page's Mail tab. The most reliable method of sending email is to use the "Send through an SMTP relay server" option and specifying your own SMTP server (this can be your own corporate Exchange server, or ISP server, or Gmail, etc.).

Please take a look at HOWTO-0008: Configure advanced SMTP options and let us know if you have any questions (or if this fails to resolve your issue).

*Note that you can also use the “Send from host with a rich mail client (mailto)” option, to send using your local rich email client (e.g., Outlook).

After upgrading to 2.4, I can't load the server completely in the latest version of Chrome. Chrome loads the SC logo and login and the framework of the page just fine, but when I click on "hosts," the little circling wait indicator appears in the "attended" section, "unattended" section, and in the general list section. Its the same circling indicators that always appears in those sections, although they usually only appear for like a half-second at most. After the 2.4 update, Chrome will never load those lists.

Support Response:
F5 (oddly enough) will usually resolve this issue (which has to do with some tenacious JavaScript caching).

If I buy the initial $300 license, how many client computers can I connect to at the same time?

Support Response:
Our licensing is concurrent-based, which means you can have unlimited number of unattended connections and unlimited number of customers waiting in queue. For each active session between a customer and a technician you need one license. We do support pausing and rejoining a session so that you can maximize your license by bouncing between different sessions where the customer is already connected. So, for example, if you need to see two machines at the same time, you would need two licenses; these two licenses sit in a pool and can be used by any member of your team. So one technician could have two simultaneous sessions or two technicians could each have one.

One of our clients has a Windows Server 2003 that I set up unattended access for by creating the .msi and running it locally. It came up fine when I tested it. When I went to remotely access it, I did get the server but it came up with the typical Microsoft “locked” prompt ("CTL-Alt-Del," enter your name, etc.). The problem is that I could not type anything in; ScreenConnect did not give me any keyboard control.

Support Response:
It sounds like you have a modifier key (likely, ALT or CTRL) stuck. Open your ScreenConnect session and try hitting the CTRL key and then try typing in the password field.

There is no Save/Record session option, no option to scale the window to fit screen, etc. when using ScreenConnect on my Linux machines. How do I enable these features?

Support Response:

Unfortunately, the ScreenConnect Java client (used by Linux and Mac OS’s) is not yet as fully-featured as the .NET client. Here is a list of the feature differences: INFO-0017: Feature Differences Between .NET and Java Clients.

Please see this post on OpenJDK (and note at the bottom the link to how we’ve addressed this problem in our v2.4 pre-release).

I tested the build installer (for unattended sessions) a few times, but it's not working on my end. Am I missing something?

Support Response:
"Build installer" creates the formatted file that you select, typically the .msi for Windows machines. It looks at the URL in your browser (unless you custom a specific URL you want to use) and then you install that .msi onto the target machine. Once installed, the installer will call back to your installation and list itself as available in the unattended table.

Do you have a sandbox I could use to test the application?

Support Response:

We don’t have a sandbox at this time, but you can set up ScreenConnect on any machine that is stationary. A lot of users utilize an old desktop they have around, or even their work computer. Because ScreenConnect is a self-hosted web application, access to the web app is linked to the external IP address. A laptop that is constantly on the move is not ideal, but if it stays primarily at home or office it would work fine.

I signed up for a trial of your product, and on the online help it mentioned that the host can run the application from a Mac. However when I went to download the product, I can only download a Windows installer. Is there somewhere I can get the Mac host application?

Support Response:
We do fully support techs and customers connecting from Mac, Windows, or Linux machines. The centralized web application (which is what you are downloading from our site) needs to run on a Windows machines because we utilize .NET 3.5. See this support response for further details.

Is there a way to offer two-factor authentication (like Blackshield Cryptocard) on the admin portal?

Support Response:
We don’t provide anything out of the box, but the ScreenConnect web app is written on top of ASP.NET, and we conform to the ASP.NET authentication model. The Blackshield people may provide a module for ASP.NET you can use with ScreenConnect, or you could write something yourself.

We purchased two concurrent licenses, and we're trying to test out a case where we need two techs on the same machine at the same time. Is that possible?

Support Response:
This functionality has been added in 2.4. You’ll get that update (and any updates within 365 days) for free when you purchase. You can try out the pre-release from our download page if you would like to see how it works.
