Well, there's two parts to that.
1) having the ability to write plugins for customizeability is really neat and cool and useful to people who can program.
2) What you're really asking for is, "assuming there is a library of plugins like this one, or other plugins that people have developed, we would like to be able to drop them into a "plugins" directory and have one of two things, either an "active plugins" and "inactive plugins" that automatically get added into the host or guest software, or a UI in the administration page that lets you checkbox which plugins you want, and then the system compiles them in for you.
The first is where we're at now. What you are suggesting we need is the UI in the second instance to make those plugins useful to non-programmers, and you're right, that's a good idea.

but to make a feature only available to a programer is not cool .....
