I want to watch for a computer in a group and get notified when it comes online. Is there a trigger that I can use for this? Don't want to watch it forever but sometimes I have to catch people with laptops out in the field. Anyone ever do this?

These two examples are pretty similar to what you are looking to do. So, if the Session's name was Acme, your event filter would be similar to:

Code:

Event.EventType = 'Connected' AND Connection.ProcessType = 'Guest' AND Session.Name = 'Acme'
ScreenConnect Team

Would there be any way to have it get down to Group? I think we have some machines with same session names.

It depends upon how that group's session filter is defined. If you're using CustomProperty1 (OOTB Organization), then you would add the following to the filter:

Code:

... AND Session.CustomProperty1 = 'Acme'
ScreenConnect Team

Any way to do this so clients with specific keywords in their CustomProperty2 (e.g. "This" OR "That") come online? I deal with residentials who can be on/offline at any time of day and would like to be alerted when those needing a certain followup task come online.

@promptcare Yes, you can include wildcards within the Event Filter. I have a session where CustomProperty1 is set to 'Acme Company', my filter to notify me when this session comes online looks like:

Code:

Event.EventType = 'Connected' AND Session.CustomProperty1 LIKE '*Acme*'
ScreenConnect Team

If you just need temporary alerts, there may be an easier way.
For the Trigger:
Code:
Event.EventType = 'Connected' AND Session.HostConnectedCount = 0 AND Session.Notes LIKE '*ALERTME*'

Then drop an "ALERTME" note on any system you want to get an online alert for. Delete the note when you want to stop getting alerts.

I also create a session group for
Code:
Notes LIKE '*ALERTME*'
to make it easier to locate which systems are alerting.

You could expand on that by adding a tech's name to it, ALERTMARK, and set up a different trigger for each tech. That way they can each create and remove their own alerts without needing permissions for the admin panel.

My solution has been to create a "To Do" group at the top of the others. I use CustomProperty2 for what needs done, CustomProperty3 gets marked "Urgent" (or anything).
I also use this to tell me if an outdated PC comes online so I can push a Reinstall and, (thanks Mike!), as of today, it will tell me which PC has messaged me (even though reading the message will clear that marker).

Session Filter: ((CustomProperty3 <> '' OR GuestClientVersion <> '6.2.12963.6312') AND GuestConnectedCount > 0) OR (UnacknowledgedEventCount > 0)

I've never used a trigger, so my apologies if this doesn't apply... but I believe the following will make so you don't have to keep updating your query each time there is a new version...

GuestClientVersion < $SERVERVERSION

Thanks. I knew there had to be an easier way to do that, but with updates only every few months, it wasn't the highest priority. Your way is better.
