Choose your favorite! Or did we botch them all? What do you like/dislike?

The catalyst for the redesign is reorganization of the functions in anticipation of meeting/presentations. There were a lot of little things that just weren't organized quite right.

Keep in mind these are a little rough and there are a lot of one-pixel-off type of little glitches. And some of the caption texts and minimize/maximize stuff doesn't match. And don't worry each of the icons; they'll be different.

If I have to pick, then it would be #1.

I like the one in Post #2, I think the striped dark grey that's in the current 2.5 version would look better (although it might not work with your red and grey logo)

As a side.. I generally don't use the icons in 2.5 (with the exception of the toolbox icon) I always use the file menus.

Cheers

3D is so five minutes ago, flat is the new 80's. But I still like best the look of the last entry in post #1.

Using SceenConnect company colors is reasonable, but too much red seems like it's signaling trouble.
And since my business cards do not have my printer’s name on them, I think branding should not be overt. Or should be configurable.

Also I am very conservative of (horde, jealously guard) my screen real estate and much prefer the slimmer title bar of the last entry in #2.

Thanks for asking.

What about a tabbed window?.... For instance, if I'm running with 5 remote sessions if they could be in one tabbed window?

Thanks everyone for the response so far, we are taking everything into consideration. We plan on at least one change in the next build, but possibly a few other small changes in subsequent releases. While we did take into account our colors we were heavily influenced by what companies like Apple and Microsoft are releasing over the next 6-18 months. Microsoft is talking about a lot of white, which is clean, but we are thinking about slightly darker colors for better contrast against other applications open on the desktop. Tabbed UI, maybe in the future we talked about it but decided to revisit later this year.

THANKS!! Keep it Coming!

I would much sooner see utility added in than candy coating. Tabs would be great even if I'm running one license and have to wait for the license to switch sessions but no longer need to close one window to activate the other session.

That said, Thomas' point about branding is valid. Here at my desk, a customer might never see my windows but, for others in other environments, they might.

If I had to pick a new look, I like Cresona's first offering. I would rather not lose screen real estate to a huge toolbar that I only use a tiny fraction of the time.

I have to agree, they all look a little dated, I prefer Cresona's first post. Gives you more screen real estate.

furthermore I want to vote on TABBED Consoles!

Also agree, now seeing Cresona's options I definitely prefer Cresona's first post.

+1 on Tabbed sessions

Thanks for the continued ideas and suggestions. Cresona, very nice designs and we will take your ideas into consideration. We had looked at some transparent designs at the start but depending on what was on the shared screen or in the background behind the ScreenConnect Host Client they could look great or almost completely hidden in the chaos. Microsoft is talking about using a white frame on some tools. White is almost like transparent, when you put it in front of a browser window or Microsoft Outlook, it blends in so much that you can not tell where one application ends and the other one starts. We are still playing with keeping the frame area to a minimum and working on the intuitive nature of the controls (accounting for what is there today and what is coming down the road).

Please keep the suggestions and ideas coming, if you have your own mockups or ideas send them over. We are also looking at how drop down menus from the icons will look and also docking for people who like to have certain tools always available. If you have a tool that you think does a good job in these areas we would love to hear about it.

I like a smaller all black theme. Will the screenconnect logo be customizable? this is very important. The current black look is great for me, i hope you allow us to still use it.

I like the compactness of Cresona's idea - is sounds odd, but I sometimes RDP into a windows box to use Screen Connect (The mac multi monitor support isn't quite as good) and I need all the screen real-estate I can get.

I know this sounds REALLY lame, but the "Game controller" icon needs to go. If one of my customers is shoulder surfing, I don't want to give them the impression that games are being played.

Personally I think the current Host Client is better than all the proposals (although I do like Cresona's examples) - a big toolbar is pointless.. I'd rather have as much screen-estate as possible for remote control.
