I'm still testing so I may be missing something. Got a laptop on my workbench so I threw up a connection to it. Just about everything worked great (I did confirm that I can't run RKill on it so I'll dig up an old batch file instead). Just to speed things up a hair, I wanted to deactivate their antivirus -- Avast. Like a good AV, it asked for confirmation and gave a 60-sec countdown. SC couldn't touch it.

I'd had similar results with another remote package I'd tested (TouchMyPC) and Kaspersky. I had to temporarily run TeamviewQS just to be able to touch the dialog window. Why one remote program could touch it and the other couldn't, I'm not sure. Maybe TV has made a whitelist somewhere? Dunno.

I also use avast anti-virus, and install it on ALL my clients. All you have to do is make sure (when avast tweaks you about it) is to make sure the program (ScreenConnect) is free to run without restrictions.

I'm installing KIS 2012 on a machine on my bench (via SC). Can't touch its screens with neither 2.3 nor the ipad app.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?:

Apparently "Proactive Defense" affects all remote support programs. Or does it?

Jake is right, its the stupid Proactive Defense. One of my customers uses Kaspersky and i could never manage it remotely and typically its the only thing that call me for haha.

Actually, Jake -- those are my posts that you're referencing on Technibble.

My remote site is eHousecalls.ca so .... yes, very familiar :)

The question was never really "what's causing it?" I assume we're all smart enough to know that the AV is protecting itself.

Tonight, I dealt with an installation of Avast with no problems whatsoever. 2.3.2005.4303 seemed to work just fine.

However, I also remoted into a customer's system to oversee his activation of Kaspersky. I COULDN'T EVEN SEE THE WINDOW! I got the occasional 'blink' of it and that was it. I even pulled out TeamViewer from the toolbox as that had worked before. Same thing. Maybe KIS has updated and not even TV can touch these things anymore.

Working with an install of KIS 2011 without problems. Could someone confirm if working with 2012 is okay?

I had a client running KIS 2012, and I had no problems with SC on any of the remote PCs. The three anti-virus programs that seem to quarantine SC the most are Comodo, AVG, and sometimes McAfee.

It's not dead if it's unresolved.

Had this again last week. I had to run TeamViewer while connected so that I could reinstall/update the customer's Kaspersky AV. Since I don't have a TV license, I don't prefer this as a workaround.

I can see where this would be a big problem, although I don't run into this. Hopefully this gets high on the priority list for fixing.

Has there been any update or progress with this issue? I sell Kaspersky to my customers and this is obviously a glaring issue for me.
