Hi All,

I am trying the product (Version 5.0.8132.5459) on Linux and am quite happy with the customization of the product. One area we wanted to customize was the Host page, to hide the Meeting and Access groups since we will only be using the product for Support.

We installed the extension Rearrange Host Session Types (Version 1.2 by Jonathon Hoaglin) to customize the Host page, to remove the Meeting and Access groups, and it works as expected but with one negative side effect, the Host page no longer refreshes and a forced refresh is required to see the update to the connection status. When I disable the extension, the host page returns to normal.

Is there a software version I am missing that would correct this issue?

Thanks.

Hello,
I didn't realize my extension was causing this issue, thanks for letting me know. I will look into this and see what is going on; it certainly is not intended behavior.

What internet browser are you using?

Thanks for getting back to me.

I have tested this in both Chrome (version 39.0.2171.99 m (64-bit)) and in Firefox (version 35.0 with the Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant 1.3.1).

Both browser exhibit the same behavior when the extension is enabled, a manual refresh is needed to see any changes in the host page.

Thanks!

Looks like it was a simple coding error on my part. Should be fixed in v1.2.1 of the extension, waiting for approval from SC

I am currently busy with other projects, but will look into this soon. I believe it is something with certain newer versions of IE not handling the code as expected (Microsoft hates following standards). Currently even my SC server has this disabled until I can fix this issue.

I worked on this for about a week and could not find a way to get the rearrange to work in IE. Maybe someone better with JavaScript could make it work, but I gave up. The rearrange is now simply disabled for IE (the setting for default session group when clicking the Host link, should still work fine), and works fantastic In every other browser. The moral of the story is, don't use IE.

Version 1.3 is uploaded and waiting for approval.

jonhoaglin, I just want to say thank you for your work on each of your extensions. I agree with the don't use IE comment, but unfortunately many of the systems we connect to require IE so the company as a whole is defaulted to it. I don't use it unless I have to, but I'm not the only ScreenConnect user so I have to deal. I just installed the newest version and while the list of computers shows up (I have All Machines as default), I don't get the left side or bottom in IE 11 (2 computers). Haven't tried any other version of IE. As before it works fine in Firefox. I have it disabled again, just wanted to let you know where it was at on our systems.

@tlucas, I appreciate that, I like when other people find stuff I've done useful. Do you mind getting me a screenshot of it not working? it seems fine on my test systems...

jonhoaglin, You can see the swirly loading on all of the panels but then it ends with what you see here. The Join, End, Edit, Invite, More buttons in the screenshot do not work either.

Edit: I also put all of the setting in the Extension to default to see if it changed anything, but it didn't.

Confirming we are experiencing the same issue with this extension, SC version 5.2.8694.5556, extension version 1.3. I've had to keep it disabled until this is resolved.

Whatever happened to this extension? I had it and loved it, but after a recent re-install of SC, I can't find this extension anymore...

You can actually accomplish the same thing using Roles in the Security interface. I have setup a role which only allows my CS reps to see the Support Group (named Session in the Security interface) and associated commands. Here are the ones I enabled in the CS Rep role I created. They only see the Support portion of the interface.
Quote:
CreateSupportSession
JoinSession: AllSessionGroups, OwnedAndUnowned
EndSession: AllSessionGroups, OnlyOwned
TransferSession: AllSessionGroups, OnlyOwned
EditSession: AllSessionGroups, OnlyOwned
RunCommandOutsideSession: AllSessionGroups, OnlyOwned
AddNoteToSession: AllSessionGroups, OnlyOwned
ReinstallSession: AllSessionGroups, OwnedAndUnowned
RunSharedToolInSession: AllSessionGroups, OwnedAndUnowned
TransferFilesInSession: AllSessionGroups, OwnedAndUnowned
ViewSessionGroup: SupportSessionGroups

You can do the same thing for the Meet and Access groups as well. Then when you create a user, you set the role to be CS Rep and the next time they log in, they only see the Support group in the Host tab.

Hope this helps!

I'm familiar with using roles.

My real issue is that, while I support over 100 clients, I'm the only SC user, and about 99% of my use of SC is through unattended access clients. I very rarely have need to setup an on-demand support session.

So it was nice to have the "Access" group at the top of the page, while still having the other groups available - I wouldn't want to have to have multiple logins for myself, depending on what I'm going to do...

No problem.

I know the author of this extension was having issues updating it to the latest version of SC. I found a workaround that worked for me. Sorry that it won't help in your situation.

SC 6.0's UI will actually split Support, Meet, and Access into different "pages" with easier navigation to move between session types. So if you live in Access, you'll be able have an Access only view. I know if doesn't help now, but we recognize the opportunity for improvement.

A quick and dirty way to get the Access panel at the top if you're using the 5.6 Pre-release is to modify the Host.aspx file in the ScreenConnect folder like so:

Of course, first back up your ScreenConnect install.

Then, in the Host.aspx file, find the SC.ui.setContents function call around line 161. It will look like this:

Code:

			SC.ui.setContents(
				$('masterSelectionPanel'),
				SC.context.sessionTypeInfos
					.map(function (_) { return SC.util.combineObjects(_, { sessionGroups: ((sessionInfo && sessionInfo.PathSessionGroupSummaries && sessionInfo.PathSessionGroupSummaries[0]) || []).filter(function (sgs) { return sgs.SessionType == _.sessionType; }) }) })
					.filter(function (_) { return _.isAvailable && (_.isButtonVisible || _.sessionGroups.length); })
					.map(function (_) {
						return $div({ _sessionType: _.sessionType }, [
							$a({ _commandName: 'CreateSession', _commandArgument: _.sessionType, _visible: _.isButtonVisible }, SC.util.getSessionTypeResource('HostPanel.{0}ButtonText', _.sessionType)),
							$dfn({ _textResource: 'InfoIcon.Text', _dataMap: { tooltip: SC.util.getSessionTypeResource('HostPanel.{0}HelpText', _.sessionType) } }),
							$h2(SC.util.getSessionTypeResource('HostPanel.{0}Heading', _.sessionType)),
							$ul({ className: 'LoadingContent' },
								_.sessionGroups.map(function (sgs) { return createListElementFunc(sgs, 0); })
							),
						]);
					})
			);

Find the line with .map(function (_) { underneath the .filter call and add .reverse() at the beginning of that line. The end result is:
Code:

			SC.ui.setContents(
				$('masterSelectionPanel'),
				SC.context.sessionTypeInfos
					.map(function (_) { return SC.util.combineObjects(_, { sessionGroups: ((sessionInfo && sessionInfo.PathSessionGroupSummaries && sessionInfo.PathSessionGroupSummaries[0]) || []).filter(function (sgs) { return sgs.SessionType == _.sessionType; }) }) })
					.filter(function (_) { return _.isAvailable && (_.isButtonVisible || _.sessionGroups.length); })
					.reverse().map(function (_) {
						return $div({ _sessionType: _.sessionType }, [
							$a({ _commandName: 'CreateSession', _commandArgument: _.sessionType, _visible: _.isButtonVisible }, SC.util.getSessionTypeResource('HostPanel.{0}ButtonText', _.sessionType)),
							$dfn({ _textResource: 'InfoIcon.Text', _dataMap: { tooltip: SC.util.getSessionTypeResource('HostPanel.{0}HelpText', _.sessionType) } }),
							$h2(SC.util.getSessionTypeResource('HostPanel.{0}Heading', _.sessionType)),
							$ul({ className: 'LoadingContent' },
								_.sessionGroups.map(function (sgs) { return createListElementFunc(sgs, 0); })
							),
						]);
					})
			);

This reverses the array of Panels, which puts the Access panel at top and Support at the bottom.
