Hello everyone,

I'm trying to get a rescue disk I can send to clients on which their system is too messed up to connect in Windows and would send a Live CD to get connected and try to remove infections. I was able to use Suse Studio to create a Live CD with Java installed so it would work. It does open ScreenConnect, however it gets stuck at negotiating and connecting. The status just keeps changing between those. I can connect via Ubuntu on a dual booted machine so it does work that way, but on the Live CD it does not. I am also able to connect on the Live CD as the Administrator to log into someone else machine and that works, just not for me to connect to the Linux Live CD. I'm not sure why it gets stuck on negotiating/connecting I was wondering if anyone could help point me in the right direction to get it to work, thanks.

Likely you're using OpenJDK, and there is a bug where it throws a security error when trying to use RSA encryption, which our stuff requires. You can use Sun JRE or there is a text file you can edit to give permission to use RSA encryption. I'll see if I can dig up the security change I made to get it to work.

I've tried both the Java 7 RPM of JDK and JRE, keeps going back and forth between connecting and negotiating... I'm going to try using the Pre-release of ScreenConnect to see if that fixes it. I will update this post if I find a solution. If anyone knows of a work around please let me know, thanks.

Same issue for me on latest pre-release on all nix based distros I've tried (Ubuntu dual boot and liveCD, Mint and Mac OSX). So let me know if your pre-release one still works on your Ubuntu dual boot.

Cheers

I would use the stable release for this. I hear there are some issues with java and the 2.4 prereleases.

I have noticed when the client starts, about every 2 or 3 secs this is added to the screenconnect log at : /var/log/screenConnectGuestClient.log

Code:
java.lang.NullPointerException
    at com.elsitech.screenconnect.EndPointManager.runIncomingThread(EndPointManager.java:178)
    at com.elsitech.screenconnect.EndPointManager.access$100(EndPointManager.java:14)
    at com.elsitech.screenconnect.EndPointManager$1.run(EndPointManager.java:80)
    at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)

it just keeps saying connecting and never even shows up on the
technician page .

That's the 2.4 pre-release issue. 2.3 should work fine.
